The Great Wichita YMCA is now taking adult mentor applications and youth referrals for its Reach and Rise mentoring program.

The program will be an ongoing outreach effort by the YMCA and is supported by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The program helps link children – particularly those challenged by poverty, crime and truancy – with positive role models who have been trained to listen and be supportive.

The adult mentors are required to go through a five-week training program.

To learn more about the program, call Andrea Eliot at 316-219-9622 or visit the Y’s website at www.ymcawichita.org/mentor.
