Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to speak, sign books at Wichita event

Robert Gates, a Wichita native and the U.S. Secretary of Defense from 2006 to 2011, will speak and sign copies of his new book Monday at an event sponsored by Watermark Books & Cafe and Wichita State University, WSU said in a prepared statement.
Gates will speak at 6 p.m. March 31 at Miller Concert Hall on the WSU campus.
His book "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War," recounts more than four years serving both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He will speak starting at 6 p.m. and take a few questions. He will sign copies of his book from 7-8 p.m. Admission is free. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
