Sunny skies will rule the day in the Wichita area, but highs only in the 40s and a north wind pushing into the teens will make for a chilly day.
Lows will settle in the mid-30s overnight, forecasters say, with winds flipping to the south and intensifying. Gusts could approach 25 miles an hour.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Wednesday, forecasters say, with highs climbing to near 60. Those south winds that arrived overnight will grow even stronger with the arrival of the front, gusting to more than 40 miles an hour at times. Steady winds will top 30 miles an hour by the afternoon.
Showers and thunderstorms remain possible overnight and into Thursday, forecasters say, with lows in the upper 40s and highs near 70. South winds will remain robust, blowing steadily in the 20s and gusting to more than 35 miles an hour.
