Police have arrested a suspect in numerous break-ins of vehicles at a west Wichita apartment complex early Friday morning.

A resident of Morgan’s Landing at 3801 W. 13th St. heard a loud noise at about 4:30 a.m. Friday, Lt. Dan East said. When he looked outside, he saw a man jump over a fence.

Officers responding to the 911 call found at least five vehicles that had been broken into, East said. They found a man in his 20s who matched the description at a nearby apartment. They also found stolen property linking him to the targeted vehicles.

The man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. The stolen property was returned to its owners, East said.

The case is a reminder not to leave valuables in vehicles parked in apartment complexes or shopping malls, he said.
