Lee’s Summit authorities have cited a 30-year-old woman with multiple violations after her 1-year-old son fell from a car she was driving, allegedly while drunk, on Sunday evening.

GiAnni L. Henderson of Lee’s Summit was cited for child endangerment, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of U.S. 50 and Chipman Road about 6 p.m. Sunday. Henderson allegedly told investigators the child fell out a passenger door while she was turning onto an entrance ramp for U.S. 50. The child sustained minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.

A passing motorist stopped and helped the toddler until paramedics arrived. There was a child’s car seat in the vehicle, and officers are investigating how the child had been secured in it.

Police also cited Henderson with a child restraint violation, license plate violation and failure to provide proof of insurance. All charges are set for municipal court.
