Authorities arrested a suspect who allegedly returned to the crime scene to retrieve a baseball bat he used in an attack, a Sedgwick County sheriff’s official said Wednesday.
Lt. David Mattingly said he didn’t know if the suspect, a 58-year-old man, “liked the bat a whole lot” or was trying to retrieve evidence. The man has been put into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and battery.
The Sheriff’s Office gave this account: At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, three men drove to a home near 4500 S. Juniper, near MacArthur Road and K-15, and threatened the occupants. Deputies found that a 58-year-old suspect threatened the occupants with a handgun and hit a 46-year-old woman in the head with a baseball bat. The three men left, but the 58-year-old returned, apparently to collect the bat, and was arrested, the office said.
The woman was treated and released from a hospital, Mattingly said.

The three men who went to the home were acquaintances of the occupants, he said.
Charges have yet to be filed.
