During argument in McDonald’s drive-through, customer pulls gun on clerk

An argument over a transaction early Tuesday morning in the drive-through lane of a south Wichita McDonald’s culminated with the customer pulling a gun on the clerk, police said.

An argument over a transaction early Tuesday morning in the drive-through lane of a south Wichita McDonald’s culminated with the customer pulling a gun on the clerk, police said.

The incident unfolded at about 3:40 a.m. at the McDonald’s at 1630 S. Hillside, Capt. Doug Nolte said. That’s next to Harry.

The argument escalated until the driver pulled out a gun and pointed it at the 18-year-old clerk, who ran to the other end of the restaurant, Nolte said. The suspect then drove away.

The clerk told police the suspect is a white man in his 20s who was driving a blue Buick Rendezvous. He was wearing a black bandanna over his face, Nolte said, but “it does not appear this was any kind of robbery.”

The dispute appears to have revolved around a receipt, a police document said. The clerk was not hurt.
