A sheriff’s official on Monday provided the name of a man who died Saturday after a two-car crash on South Rock Road.
The man who died is Zachary L. Dix, 21, of Mulvane, said sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly.
Roads were slick at the time of the accident, about 5 p.m. Saturday, Mattingly said.
The crash occurred in the 4000 block of South Rock Road, near McConnell Air Force Base.
On Saturday, sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Ohmart said ice covering the street caused the man who died to lose control of the car he was driving and cross into oncoming traffic. Another car hit his car. The man was taken to Wesley Medical Center “in very critical condition” and died a short time later, Ohmart said. Two people in the other car were hospitalized. One had serious injuries.
