Two men have been arrested after one of them allegedly fired several shots during a disturbance Sunday at a property along West U.S. 54, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
The office gave this account: Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to 15301 W. U.S. 54 to a report of a disturbance with shots fired. Deputies heard that a 21-year-old Wichita man had been at a party near the address, described by sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly as a small trailer lot.
When the man was leaving in his car, the vehicle struck another man, a fence and a trash can, but no one was seriously injured, Mattingly said.
A 25-year-old Goddard man who saw the incident fired several shots at the 21-year-old’s car as he left, the office said.
Investigators questioned several people and booked the 21-year-old into jail on suspicion of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property and booked the 25-year-old on suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle. The case will be presented to prosecutors.
