Comedian Mike Birbiglia will bring his “Thank God For Jokes” tour to the Wichita Orpheum in May, theater officials announced Monday.
Birbiglia, known for his personal, often awkward storytelling style, will perform at the Orpheum at 7:30 p.m. May 16. Tickets are $35 and $40 and go on sale Friday.
Birbiglia has made more than 40 network television appearances on late-night talk shows and is a regular contributor to National Public Radio’s “This American Life.” He has released four albums, including “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” and “My Secret Public Journal,” which USA Today named one of the best comedy albums of the decade.
In 2012, Birbiglia directed and starred in a feature film adaptation of his one-man show, “Sleepwalk With Me.”
According to tour information, his “Thank God for Jokes” tour features more painfully awkward stories, including arguing with a stranger about her nut allergy, hosting an awards show for angry celebrities and learning that Fozzie Bear is a tough act to follow.
