Prosecutors this week charged a 23-year-old Wichita man with raping a 13-year-old girl.
Brian S. Logan is accused of unlawfully having sex with the girl around Jan. 30, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Sedgwick County District Court. He was arrested Jan. 31 on suspicion of multiple child sex crimes, police and jail booking records show, after a 32-year-old woman told police her daughter was involved in a sexual relationship. The mother provided documentation of the pair’s cellphone and computer communications, according to a written summary of the incident on a Wichita Police Department media report.
Logan is being held in Sedgwick County Jail on $200,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19.
Rape of a child younger than 14 is a Jessica’s Law crime, which draws a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison without parole for 25 years, upon conviction.
