A Mound City man is dead after dump truck struck his car Friday afternoon on a Linn County road.

Steven Nickelson, 58, was driving a 1998 Infiniti west on K-52, near Pleasanton, when the rig pulled into oncoming traffic after halting at a stop sign, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in an online crash report.

The truck hit Nickelson’s car, forcing it into a ditch. He died in the crash.

The highway patrol said 64-year-old Pleasanton resident Roy Bright, who was driving the dump truck, did not see any traffic when he proceeded north through the intersection at K-52 and Scott Road. He was not hurt.
