Man robbed while trying to buy Xanax in parking garage

A man who tried to buy some Xanax on the street got far more than he bargained for, police say – and less, too.

A man who tried to buy some Xanax on the street got far more than he bargained for, police say – and less, too.

The 20-year-old man agreed to buy three Xanax tablets from a couple of strangers, Lt. Doug Nolte said Wednesday, and they agreed to meet in a parking garage near Gander Mountain in the 600 block of South Wichita.

But when he and a 20-year-old friend arrived at the meeting point at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, one of the other men pulled out a handgun and hit him several times in the face, Nolte said. He took cash and an iPhone from the victim, who then fled the scene in his car.

As he was leaving, the armed suspect fired three shots, Nolte said: One hit the hood of the car, another hit the windshield and the third hit the rear door on the passenger side.

The victim suffered minor lacerations to his face and ear, Nolte said.

The suspects drove a maroon 2004 Ford Mustang with dark tinted windows and an insignia of some sort on the front fenders.
