A woman who returned home to a damaged front door was punched from behind by an intruder Monday, and now authorities are trying to figure out whether anything was stolen in the incident.
The 47-year-old woman told police she returned to her home in the 1500 block of North Pinecrest sometime after 5 p.m. Monday and discovered someone had kicked in her front door, Lt. Doug Nolte said. That’s northeast of 13th and Oliver.
When she went inside to investigate, “she was punched in the left eye from behind,” Nolte said. “This was caused, presumably, by our suspect.”
The victim never saw anyone, he said. Her injury was not serious. She is still trying to figure out what, if anything, might have been stolen.
While he didn’t want to second-guess the woman’s actions, Nolte said, “any time you find your house has been tampered with, it would be a good time to call 911.”
