Armed robber takes money, cigarettes at Dollar General near I-135

An armed gunman wearing a camouflage ski mask walked into a Dollar General store Wednesday night in central Wichita, ordered everyone to the floor and stole money and cigarettes before leaving, police said.

An armed gunman wearing a camouflage ski mask walked into a Dollar General store Wednesday night in central Wichita, ordered everyone to the floor and stole money and cigarettes before leaving, police said.

The robbery occurred just before 8 p.m. at the Dollar General at 1624 E. Central, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. That’s just west of I-135.

At least four people were in the store at the time of the robbery, Schroeder said. One of the store clerks told police the robber is a black male in his 20s to 30s who is between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 8. He has a medium build and a medium complexion.

Along with the ski mask, he wore blue jeans, a white shirt and black shoes. He stole cash from the register and several cartons of Newport cigarettes, Schroeder said.
