Man reports being stabbed near Harry, Rock

Police are trying to make sense out of a man’s account of how he was stabbed early Friday morning in southeast Wichita.

Police are trying to make sense out of a man’s account of how he was stabbed early Friday morning in southeast Wichita.

The stabbing was reported just before 4 a.m. at 8406 E. Harry, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. That is the Village Park at Cedarbrooke Apartments just east of Rock Road.

The 25-year-old victim told police he had been at a bar called Joe’s when he accepted a ride from another man, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

“We’re not sure what bar that is,” Nolte said. There is a Wichita restaurant and bar called Joe’s Oldtown Bar and Grill.

They drove to the parking lot of the complex on Harry, where the victim claims someone came up to him and stabbed him in the shoulder with a piece of glass, Nolte said. But the victim offered no suspect description or what happened to the man who drove him there.

“The comments by the victim are vague and difficult to follow,” Nolte said. “We aren’t sure we have the full story of exactly what happened.”

When officers arrived at the complex, “he was bleeding heavily” from a 4-inch cut on his shoulder, Nolte said.

He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in serious condition. Anyone who was in the area of the apartment complex at about 4 a.m. and has information about the incident is encouraged to call 911, Nolte said.

“We’re concerned that his story is not reliable at this point,” he said.
