The Wichita school district is accepting nominations for its 2013-14 Distinguished Classroom Teacher Awards.
The awards recognize outstanding teachers in seven categories: new elementary, new secondary, primary (kindergarten through second grade), intermediate (grades 3-5), middle school, high school and support teacher.
Mailed nominations must be postmarked no later than Jan. 2 or hand-delivered by 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 3 to: Lori Doyle or Shannon Benoit, Alvin E. Morris Administrative Center, 9th Floor, 201 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202.
Find the nomination form at the district’s website, www.usd259.org.
Award recipients are selected by a committee that includes teachers, school and district-level administrators, assistant superintendents and a member of the United Teachers of Wichita. They usually are announced and recognized at a Wichita Board of Education meeting in March.
