Man stabbed in Club Rodeo parking lot

A man was stabbed outside Club Rodeo late Wednesday night, authorities said.

A man was stabbed outside Club Rodeo late Wednesday night, authorities said.

The stabbing occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the club at 10001 E. Kellogg, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The victim, 31, was stabbed once in the side. He was treated and released at Wesley Medical Center.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing, Nolte said. The victim was one of two men leaving the club when they saw the suspect sitting in his pickup.

The victim said something to the suspect, who then got out and confronted him, Nolte said. An argument ensued, and the suspect stabbed the victim once.

No other injuries were reported. Nolte said he did not know what the victim said to the suspect to prompt the altercation.

The owners of Club Rodeo issued a statement on Thursday, calling the incident “unfortunate.”

“First and foremost our thoughts go out to the man who went to the hospital last night,” the statement read in part. “As we understand it, he was not admitted and is doing well.

“Secondly, Club Rodeo is working very aggressively with the Wichita Police Department to provide a safe environment.”

A string of violent altercations at the club on Thursday nights in recent years prompted the owners to close on that night.
