Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

The 52-year-old father was laid off from his job two years ago.

Since then, he has gone through a divorce, struggled to pay bills and searched for a job.

“I have never been in this position before and hate asking for help,” the man wrote on his application to Share the Season. “Circumstances beyond my control have been coming against me and I’m hoping they will change in 2014.”

In June, he was hired as a temporary intern. He is hoping to be hired full time.

“If they hire me, my income will go up and I won’t have to ask for assistance. I have been juggling the bills for two years now.”

Any help paying the bills would matter, he said.

“It would be fantastic.”

So far, Share the Season has raised $144,143.
