As of around 7:15 a.m. Friday, it was so cold in Wichita, with such a stiff north wind, that the wind chill was minus 5 degrees.

The temperature was 15 degrees, but a wind gusting at more than 20 mph from the north made it feel that much colder, said Scott Smith, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wichita.

Friday’s high will be around 20 degrees, and even though the wind will calm down some, the wind chill will still be in the single digits as the day wears on, Smith said.

Friday night, the low should be around 2 degrees for Wichita. That’s not a record, Smith said, "but pretty doggone cold."

• Saturday: A chance of very light snow, maybe a frigid dusting. It will be around 2 degrees Saturday morning, and later, expect a high of around 27.
• Sunday: A high around 27.
