Wichita fire officials on Wednesday are expected to disclose the probable cause of a house fire that killed four people, including two young children, last week on North Goebel.
The probable cause and other information from the fire investigation will be provided at the daily briefing for reporters at 10 a.m. Wednesday at City Hall, Fire Marshal Brad Crisp said late Tuesday afternoon.
The fire killed Amanda Nichols, 21; her son, Isaaca, 1 (relatives said he was nearly 2); Camaron McGowan, 27; and his son, K’dyn McGowan, 2. Three other people escaped the fire.
The fire was reported at 3:14 a.m. Nov. 26 at a mobile home on North Goebel, near Central and Webb, in east Wichita. Last week, Crisp said investigators have been able to rule out an electrical malfunction in the structure.
He said autopsies found elevated carbon monoxide levels, which is consistent with smoke inhalation.
