A memorial fund has been set up to help with expenses for the family of Jeffrey M. Jones, a store customer who was shot to death last month during a robbery.
The fund has been established at Emprise Bank. Donations may be sent to the bank at P.O. Box 2970, Wichita, KS, 67201. Checks should be made out to the Jeffrey Michael Jones Memorial Fund.
Jones, 29, died at a hospital after being shot in the head about 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 inside the BD Convenience Store, 1601 S. Hydraulic. Police said Jones was a regular customer at the store and started talking to the gunman after the suspect demanded money from the clerk.
Jackson Bryant, 19, has been charged in the case with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property. His preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 17.
