A 2001 Saab involved in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured two brothers walking on 12th Street has been found and a person of interest identified, Wichita police announced Wednesday.

Police said in an e-mailed statement that the car was located Wednesday afternoon after they received a tip on its location. Authorities had asked for the public’s help finding the car after its driver allegedly struck the men in the 1900 block of East 12th Street, near I-135, and fled at about 12:25 a.m. Saturday.

Wichita police Lt. Joe Schroeder said Wednesday afternoon that the driver was being questioned but had not been arrested. He would not say where the car was found.

The men, who were taken to the hospital in critical condition, suffered leg and head injuries but are expected to survive. Police have said the pair, ages 38 and 39, had put together meals at the American Legion and were walking east on 12th Street when the Saab hit them from behind. The car reportedly did not stop or slow down before it left the scene.

Wichita police said they are no longer seeking tips in the case.
