Wichita State University will host a 5-kilometer walk/run at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 14, starting at the Duerksen Fine Arts Center, WSU said in a written statement Wednesday.

The Canta Carol Run includes carolers singing holiday songs throughout the course. Those taking part can have a warm beverage, holiday treats and a visit with Santa. The first 200 people to register get a shirt.

Early registration is $15 for all students, kindergarten through college, $20 for WSU faculty and staff, and $25 for the public. Registration after Saturday, Dec. 7 is $30, and it's $40 on race day, the statement said.

Proceeds will help provide scholarships for the ninth Canta in Italia summer voice and opera program in Lucca, Italy.
