Two people were beaten and injured during a home robbery in south Wichita on Wednesday night, police said.
A 24-year-old man answered a knock at the door of his house in the 1400 block of South Emporia at about 8:20 p.m., Lt. Doug Nolte said. That’s southeast of Lincoln and Broadway.
Three men forced their way into the house and one armed with a baseball bat began clubbing the resident with it, Nolte said. He also kicked the man.
A 22-year-old woman at the house woke up and was attacked when she went to find out what was going on, Nolte said. The robbers stole electronics, but before they left they were confronted by a friend of the residents who stopped by for a visit.
He chased them from the house, Nolte said, but one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and he stopped chasing them. They escaped with several thousand dollars worth of electronics.
No shots were fired, Nolte said. The suspects left in a black Ford pickup. The man who lives at the house suffered a broken left elbow and several broken fingers on his left hand.
The woman sustained a laceration on the back of her head and also was struck on her leg. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
