A man was robbed and seriously beaten by two men at his south Wichita home late Monday night, police said.
Shortly before 11 p.m., the two men came in through the unlocked front door of a house in the 1300 block of Laura, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The home is southeast of Lincoln and Washington.
They confronted the 65-year-old man who lives there and demanded money from him, Nolte said. One of the men then hit the victim several times with a baseball bat he brought with him.
The victim suffered visible injuries to his head, a possibly dislocated left elbow and several broken ribs, Nolte said. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment, where he was interviewed by police.
While officers were there, they learned that someone had tried to use the victim’s debit card at an Emprise ATM in the 1900 block of North Broadway, Nolte said. Officers went to that location but could not find the suspects.
The victim did not know the men and offered limited descriptions, Nolte said.
