Man arrested after car hits stopped police van downtown

Police arrested a 32-year-old man who ran his green Ford Mustang into the back of a police van while driving in the 500 block of East Kellogg downtown.

The accident happened at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

The police van had stopped and officers were helping direct traffic from a previous accident.

After the 32-year-old man struck the back of the van, he attempted to flee the scene and was arrested by officers on suspicious of driving while impaired.

No one was injured in the accident.
