A customer followed and fought with a man who had just robbed a Wal-Mart store on Wednesday night, Wichita police said Thursday.
The robber got away, Wichita police Lt. Steve Kenney said.
Two employees were emptying cash drawers in the store at 501 E. Pawnee at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Kenney said. A man approached, fought with them and grabbed a money bag from them, Kenney said. The employees resisted until they saw a handgun stuck in the man’s waistband, Kenney said.
A customer saw the robbery and followed the man outside, Kenney said. The customer tried to grab the money bag, and wrestled with the man, but the man got away, leaving moments later in a blue van, Kenney said.
Police later recovered the van, and then found the money bag in a garage attachment at Funston and Ida, Kenney said.
