A Ness City man was killed late Tuesday night when he tried to get his stuck pickup out of a ditch, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Darren E. McVicker, 47, was driving about 11:30 p.m. southbound on a county road seven miles west and two miles south of Ness City when his 2012 Ford pickup went into the east and west ditches multiple times, the report said. The vehicle eventually became stuck in the mud in the west ditch.

McVicker attempted to get the vehicle out when he fell under a rear tire and the pickup ran over him, the report said. He died at the scene, a highway patrol trooper said.
