One person was killed and another critically injured in a head-on collision in Greenwood County on Sunday, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on U.S. 54 about 10 miles west of Eureka, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported. Zachary Nowell, 21, of Madison was driving east when his 1999 Chevy Silverado drifted left of the center line and struck a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by 65-year-old Coleen Buettner of Eureka.
Buettner was killed in the crash, the highway patrol reported, while Nowell was seriously hurt and transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Nowell was in critical condition at Wesley on Monday, a hospital employee said.
