Wichita police are investigating a shooting that happened shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday that left a 28-year-old man with a superficial head wound.
Wichita police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the 800 block of South Erie, near Lincoln and Hillside. When they arrived, they discovered the man with the wound to his forehead. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center and treated.
As police interviewed residents, they discovered a fight had occurred between several women and men, according to Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman with the Wichita Police Department. At one point, a man went to a vehicle, pulled out a handgun and fired shots into the crowd that had gathered.
Detectives were continuing to investigate who may have started the fight and who fired the gun, Brunscheen said.
