Police are looking for people who witnessed a man kill himself Monday afternoon.
A 21-year-old woman called 911 and reported that her boyfriend had stabbed himself at about 5:15 p.m. in a parking lot at Central and Estelle, Lt. Joe Schroeder said.
He was embroiled in an argument and stabbed himself once in the chest with a steak knife, Schroeder said. He died at the scene.
There was a crowd in the parking lot at the time of the stabbing, Schroeder said, and police want to talk to witnesses to complete the investigation.
“We do know some of them actually witnessed” the stabbing, he said.
Anyone who was there at the time of the stabbing is encouraged to call 911 or the homicide unit at 316-268-4181.
The man’s girlfriend is cooperating with police, Schroeder said, and all evidence indicates the stabbing was self-inflicted.
