Lyons man killed outside his SUV, which had hit a deer

A 32-year-old Lyons man was hit by a car and killed Friday while standing outside his SUV after it had hit a deer.

The accident occurred at 7:48 p.m. Friday at 24th Road and Avenue Q, about 11 miles southeast of Lyons, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Boe Keesling was standing outside his 2010 Acura SUV after it was disabled when it struck a deer, the Highway Patrol said.

A 2011 Chevrolet traveling eastbound then struck the vehicle and Keesling. Keesling died at the scene.

A 31-year-old passenger inside the Acura was not injured.

One of the five occupants inside the Chevrolet, a 33-year-old woman, sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to a Lyons hospital.

A 2-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl were also taken to the hospital with possible injuries. The 33-year-old driver and another 9-year-old girl were not injured.
