The Wichita Parks Foundation will hold a fundraising event Saturday to support the foundation and raise awareness of several parks projects it supports.
The event, “Party for the Parks,” will take place on the Hyatt Hotel lawn from 5 to 10 p.m. It is free to the public.
Among the projects the foundation will be supporting are replacement of the Watson Park train, summer program scholarships for at‐risk youths, installation of artificial turf fields in city parks, new batting cages at the Southlakes Sports Complex and scoreboard upgrades at city sports fields.
Attendees also will be able to learn more about work being done on the restoration of the Fresh Air Baby Camp in Riverside Park and get information on the second annual Fido 5k, which supports Wichita’s dog parks.
The AJ McCausland Band will play at 6 and 6:30 p.m. The new floating stage on the river behind Gander Mountain will be dedicated and will feature a concert by Band of Oz.
Food and a cash bar will be available. The Watson Park train will be on display, and there will be inflatables for kids. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
