Someone used or tried to use credit cards stolen from a vehicle 25 times for purchases at Wichita-area retailers, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

At 2:50 p.m. Sunday, the owner of a 2009 Hyundai found that someone had broken out the front passenger window of the vehicle while it was parked at 6900 W. 13th St. N., the office said.

The thief took a purse, cash, credit cards and a driver’s license. The loss was $458. Damages amounted to $500.

The stolen cards were being used within minutes of theft, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said.
