A Rice County woman will serve two years’ federal probation for embezzling more than $211,000 from a Lyons livestock feeding operation, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom announced Friday.
Carrie L. Frederick, 37, of Sterling, was also ordered to pay $80,487 in restitution in the cattle fraud scheme, Grissom said. Frederick pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud after admitting she used money from Sellers Farms Inc. to pay cattle trading debts she owed to Golden Belt Feeders Inc. of St. John.
Frederick was an employee of Sellers Farms. She paid the money to Golden Belt over three transactions. She acquired the cattle debt while working for the St. John-based company, Grissom said.
