The children of a 40-year-old man killed in a wreck earlier this month at I-235 and Meridian say they need help paying for his funeral expenses.
Richard A. Baker, of Wichita, died Sept. 3 after his van rolled onto him during a collision with another vehicle at the northside interchange near K-96. His three children – Dustin Lewis, 20, and daughters, ages 15 and 16 – have set up a fund to defray their father’s burial costs.
Contributions may be made to the Rick Baker Memorial Fund at Southwest National Bank locations.
A family friend said Baker did not have a will, insurance or other money set aside for funeral expenses.
“The cost is now the responsibility of his children,” Janet Richey said in an e-mail to The Eagle. “ ... This has caused a great deal of stress and heartbreak for the family. They are now reaching out to the community for help.”
