Body discovered in Kansas River

The body was found Monday afternoon about five miles downstream from where crews were searching for a fisherman reported missing early Sunday

A body was discovered Monday in the Kansas River, downstream from where searchers had been looking for a man who disappeared in the river early Sunday morning.

A boater reported finding the body in the river in the area of the Turner Diagonal in Kansas City, Kan.

The missing man had last been seen several miles upstream near where Interstate 435 crosses the river in Edwardsville. Kansas City, Kan., fire department crews had been searching the river and its banks in that area Sunday and Monday before the body was reported about 12:30 p.m. Monday. Firefighters in boats reported recovering the body about 2:15 p.m. Monday.
