A 31-year-old Wichita man was shot following a fight at a west-side bar early Saturday morning, police said.

Sgt. Bart Brunscheensaid the man was an employee of the bar, Drunken Monkees, at 3803 W. Maple, just east of West Street.

He said the shooting happened at 1:50 a.m. after another man got into a verbal argument at the bar, which turned into a physical fight with three other men.

Brunscheen said at some point, one of the three men went outside to a white car in the bar’s parking lot, retrieved a handgun and started firing.

“The victim was hit twice in the upper left leg,” he said.

The man was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, Brunscheen said, and is listed in stable condition.

Police are searching for the gunman and two other men.
