A Wichita 17-year-old has been booked into the juvenile detention facility after gunshots were reported at a party at a barn early Tuesday in the 9700 block of North West Street, a sheriff’s official said.
No one was injured, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said, and detectives were continuing to investigate. More arrests are possible, he said.
According to Mattingly, about 1 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of shots fired and found a number of people leaving a large party at a barn. Deputies learned that a 17-year-old male had been arguing with an 18-year-old man and 20-year-old man near the entrance to the property. The 17-year-old had allegedly pointed a shotgun at the two, Mattingly said. The two drove away, and shortly afterward, shots rang out.
The people at the party apparently were in their late teens and early 20s, he said.
The 17-year-old is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault over the allegation that he pointed a gun at others, Mattingly said. The case will be presented to prosecutors.
