An 18-year-old Abilene woman was killed and three people were injured late Friday night north of Salina in Ottawa County in a single-vehicle accident, a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report said.
Samantha Jo Hosie was killed when the southbound pickup she was riding in overturned shortly after 11 p.m. on U.S. 81, about a half-mile south of Rifle Road, the report said.
Earl W. Anderson, 32, of Mantua, Neb., was driving a 2001 Ford pickup and pulling a stock trailer when he swerved to miss an animal on the highway, the report said. He lost control of the pickup and it went into the west ditch and overturned.
Hosie was ejected from the pickup and died at the scene, the report said.
Anderson was injured along with two passengers – Charlotte Beatrice Anderson, 37, of Abilene; and Tanner Layne Grizzle, 20, of Herington. All three were taken to a Salina hospital. Their conditions were not known.
