Wichita truck driver seriously injured in Sumner County crash

A Wichita truck driver was hurt Thursday when the semi he drove veered off of K-42 and rolled in Sumner County.

Paul E. Scott, 41, reportedly overcorrected as the semi drifted to the right then struck a culvert on the opposite side of the highway, according to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The truck, which was westbound, flipped on its top, injuring Scott.

Scott was taken to Via Christi Hopsital on St. Francis, where he was in serious condition Thursday evening, a hospital house supervisor said.

The wreck happened at 8:43 a.m. near Viola, which is about 25 miles southwest of downtown Wichita.
