Shots were fired Monday morning about 10 minutes after a knock on an apartment door in the 3700 block of East Ross Parkway, police said.
The incident occurred at about 2:05 a.m. Monday. An unidentified man was reportedly looking for someone inside the apartment, near Hillside and Pawnee. He knocked on the door, but no one answered.
About five minutes later, a woman in the apartment went outside to look, but didn’t see anyone. After another five minutes, five to six gunshots were heard outside the apartment, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
There were six people in the apartment at the time: four children and two adults.
Police found shell casings and two bullet fragments at the scene. Some of the shots struck the apartment’s door. No one was injured.
Nolte said police don’t have a description of the man or how he may have known the people in the apartment. One of the teenagers in the apartment is affiliated with a gang, he said.
