Wichita police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of burglary after he cut a hole in the roof of a south-side liquor store early Saturday.

Sgt. Scott Brunow said police responding to an alarm at Lamar’s Liquor Stop, 1014 W. Pawnee, noticed noise coming from atop the store about 3:25 a.m. As a fire truck carrying a ladder arrived to aid the officers, the man jumped down and ran. He was apprehended nearby, Brunow said.

Brunow said the man cut the hole in the roof to gain access to the store, which is near Seneca. No property loss was reported, he said.
