Dodge City gang member pleads guilty to aiding attempted murder

A Dodge City gang member has pleaded guilty in a federal racketeering case, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Monday.

A Dodge City gang member has pleaded guilty in a federal racketeering case, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Monday.

Juan Torres, 22, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting attempted murder, Grissom’s office said in an e-mail news release. The charge involved an incident on Oct. 4, 2008, in which two people were shot.

According to the news release, Torres admitted he accompanied two co-defendants in an attack at the home of a rival gang member.

In his Sept. 16 sentencing, Torres faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

Grissom commended Dodge City-area law enforcement agencies and local and federal prosecutors for their work on the case.
