An elderly couple woke shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday to discover their house had been robbed.
Police were notified of the burglary in the 1000 block of West 55th Street South. The couple, an 89-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman, noticed a purse and wallet were missing from their kitchen, said Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. The burglar had either pried open or cut a screen off a door to gain entry, he said.
“They didn’t know when this occurred or had any description of the suspects,” Brunscheen said. “I know we have had cooler evening temperatures but it’s best to keep your doors locked and secured as best you can when you go to sleep.”
