One person is dead following a collision between a motorcycle and a semi Thursday afternoon at 45th Street North and Hydraulic.
The crash was reported around 2:50 p.m., said Sedgwick County sheriff’s Lt. Mary Mattingly. Early indications are that the semi, eastbound on 45th Street, ran a stop sign at Hydraulic and collided with the motorcycle, which was southbound on Hydraulic, Mattingly and sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Hargus said.
The motorcycle driver, a 42-year-old Park City woman, was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Her identification was being withheld pending notification of relatives. The driver of the semi, a 26-year-old man from Dallas, was unhurt.
Authorities have temporarily closed Hydraulic from 37th to 53rd streets, as well as 45th Street from approximately Old Lawrence Road to Hillside, to through traffic while the collision is being investigated.
Mattingly said authorities are interviewing several eyewitnesses, including people who may have been standing outdoors at a nearby apartment complex.
