Attorney General’s Office recovered $49 million last year

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office announced Monday it had recovered more than $49 million in consumer restitution, fees and penalties last year, a record amount.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office announced Monday it had recovered more than $49 million in consumer restitution, fees and penalties last year, a record amount.

The Consumer Protection Division investigates scams, fraud and other illicit monetary activity, according to its website.

Previously the record for one year was $17.3 million.
