Police: Woman, 18, on meth throws sword at great-grandmother

Police arrested an 18-year-old woman after she became so paranoid that she reportedly threw a sword at her great-grandmother late Sunday night in southwest Wichita.

The woman was under the influence of meth, her younger sister told police, and she became convinced somebody was trying to “get her,” Lt. Doug Nolte said. As midnight Sunday approached, the woman became increasingly agitated inside her residence in the 3000 block of South Euclid, which is just north of 31st Street South and between Seneca and Meridian.

“She took a sword in the residence and threw it at her 82-year-old great-grandmother,” Nolte said.

The sword did not hit the elderly woman, but the woman’s 15-year-old sister tried to intervene. The 18-year-old pushed her away and tried to force her out of the house.

Police were called, Nolte said, and officers arrested the 18-year-old.
