Man uses screwdriver to stab niece in ankle

Wichita police were called to the 200 block of North Ash on Saturday night following the stabbing of a 25-year-old woman.

The woman told police she had placed a small child’s pool too close to her neighboring uncle’s residence, who has mental disabilities, according to Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

The uncle became upset and stabbed her in the left ankle with a screwdriver.

The woman refused medical treatment but emergency crews did transport the 49-year-old uncle to Via Christi Hospital on East Harry for mental services.

The incident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
